Importance of Premarketing Notification or 510(k)

In marketing a device, there is always a regulation to be followed. According to Section 510(k) of the Food, Drug and Cosmetics act, a manufacturer who wants to register to market their device must notify the FDA in advance within 90 days. This is referred to as Premarket Notification (PMN) or 510(k). The notification will allow the FDA to identify whether the device has an equivalent device already available in the market. This is done for the purpose of easy classification of the device. I have a couple of friends who are really thinking about starting a water coolers for offices business. They did some basic research, and found out that over half of businesses today don’t have water refreshment services for their employees. I think this is particularly troublesome, especially when you consider the damage that dehydration does when it comes to keeping your body in tip top shape. I don’t know about you, but when I drink enough water, I feel like I can take over the world. It doesn’t even matter if I don’t know how, just that I have enough water is all I need. Pretty soon, people are going to realize that water is one of the most important things there are, and they are going to start buying all kinds of water. At least that’s what my friends are hoping will happen. Because when you buy some water, you can really understand the power behind it. That’s at least the working theory of my friends’ business model. I hope they do OK.
